Our Products
Our product offering has evolved to meet the demands of our customers and tracks the industry trend, from IBS/DAS through Rooftops to Macro Sites, we expect that with 5G demand will grow for Small Cells and for the dark fibre connectivity required for their success.
IBS DAS

Have you experienced poor voice quality, missed calls, slow data downloads or not been able to make calls within a building, an elevator or a basement? African Towers partners with MNO’s to deploy our signature In-building coverage enhancement solutions (IBS), shared distributed antenna systems that are designed to resolve subscriber signal quality & capacity challenges within grade A buildings such as airports, hotels, sporting venues, corporate office blocks and hospitals.
An African Towers IBS consists of multiple low power, low profile antennas that are strategically placed throughout a building and connected via coaxial cabling to a central location in the building, wireless service providers’ equipment are co-located at this central location and are connected to the IBS. Network operators bring their microwave or optical fibre connectivity and in “plug & play” fashion connect to the DAS.
African Towers is the leader in this urban market product, our IBS offerings are designed & deployed to deliver efficiency and value to stakeholders.
Rooftops & Towers

We provide shared rooftop towers to the MNO’s. Initially our rooftop offering was deployed to complement our IBS’s, ensuring that buildings are covered not from the inside alone, but subscribers have contiguous coverage as they move in and out of a building.
African Towers ground based towers are shared infrastructure, designed purposely to accommodate at least 3 MNO’s, thereby aligning with the industry goal of reducing the proliferation of towers across the country.
Today we deploy rooftop infrastructure in urban and suburban settings where permitting restricts the mounting of ground-based towers. Our rooftop locations provide infill coverage & capacity as well as provide an alternative solution to our ground-based tower infrastructure.
Our Rooftop & Ground-based towers are located throughout Ghana and have become a significant part of our portfolio and the driving force behind our organic growth.
Small Cells

To meet savvy subscribers expectations in dense urban & highly trafficked outdoor areas, we provide the infrastructure that will host the future infrastructure for the coverage & capacity that MNO’s require to deliver 4G (and 5G) high speed data services.
We design and build robust small cell solutions using “street furniture”, existing infrastructure (billboards, lamp posts etc), to support the antennas, power systems and backhaul components that make up the small cell solutions.
With the expected rollout of 5G in Ghana we expect Small Cells to be a growth segment of our portfolio.
Optical Fibre

As subscriber demand for high speed, time-sensitive video & data applications/services continues to grow exponentially, the conventional radio infrastructure (microwave) used for the transport/backhaul of MNO traffic from cell sites back to our customer MNO’s central offices has become constrained, microwave capacity is quickly being replaced by the more reliable, robust, higher capacity optical fibre medium.
Demand for efficient data traffic backhaul is projected to increase significantly with the deployment of next generation 5G infrastructure.
African Towers has provided optical “dark fibre” connectivity for MNO’s at our strategic locations and we will continue to expand our capability in this product segment to meet this growing need of our MNO customers.
