About African Towers
African Towers is a privately held “neutral host” provider of shared infrastructure sites to the telecommunications industry. We build, own, lease and manage 250+ telecommunications infrastructure sites in Ghana.
Our sites are specifically built for sharing, multiple Mobile Network Operators (MNO’s) collocate on our sites, the infrastructure is passive and includes ground-based towers, rooftop towers, small cells and In-Building (IBS) & Outdoor (ODAS) Distributed Antenna System’s (DAS). To complement our passive infrastructure, we also offer our customers dark fiber connectivity to our sites.
Who We Are

African Towers was founded in 2009 by Ghanaian Telecommunications Professionals who had been following the evolution of the Tower Infrastructure model in other markets.
African Towers is the first indigenous tower infrastructure company in Ghana, we are Ghanaian to the core, managed and staffed by Ghanaian professionals. Our “team” corporate culture, with a uniquely flat organizational structure, enables us to be responsive and make decisions quickly to the benefit of our customers as well as the communities in which we provide our services.
Our depth of understanding of the Ghanaian regulatory environment allows us to adeptly navigate the bureaucratic process of permitting, that is both a necessity and a bottle neck in the process of developing our infrastructure.
The professionals at African Towers are committed to supporting the ethical and sustainable development of the telecommunications industry in Ghana.
Our History

The AT story begins in 2009 when African Towers was registered as a limited liability company. In 2011, recognizing the challenge we faced in acquiring existing towers from an MNO, we changed strategy to focus on developing & marketing our shared in-building solutions (IBS) to the MNO’s, at the time, shared IBS was an undeveloped market segment.
Today we are the leader in this segment of the market. By 2014, having put in place master service agreements with the MNOs (for our IBS offering), we successfully leveraged our relationship with IBS landlords to extend our product offering to include rooftop towers to complement our IBS’s in urban settings.
We further extended our product portfolio to include dark fiber connectivity and deployed our first small cell solutions in 2015. In 2016, we deployed our first 55 ground-based tower sites under a build-to-suit agreement, with each site going live with an anchor tenant.
Since 2017 we have continued to grow AT’s site portfolio organically, we currently own and manage 250+ shared Infrastructure sites located throughout Ghana. Our Mission is efficiently “Extending Wireless Coverage” to difficult to reach places, within buildings and dense urban areas through deployment of innovative shared and sustainable solutions.
Our Vision is to be the indigenous digital infrastructure provider of choice, delivering cost effective, innovative shared passive and energy solutions that are “sustainable” and “future proof” to the telecommunications industry in Ghana
Our Portfolio

At African Towers we have painstakingly built a portfolio of shared sites that are located in both urban and rural settings. Over the years, our portfolio has evolved from In-building solutions, through roof tops & small cells to ground-based towers.

We expect our portfolio evolution to continue into the future, putting us in a position to provide key infrastructure & services to meet the needs of our customers as their networks evolve to 5G.
