Pioneer Ghanaian In-building coverage solutions provider African Towers, enhances mobile network coverage at Kotoka International Airport (KIA)

KIA is the only international Airport in Ghana, and a hub for travelers to the West African Sub-region, serving about 2M passengers in 2011.  African Towers has deployed its multi-operator integrated Distributed Antenna System (DAS) at KIA.  Leading Mobile network operators (MTN, Vodafone, Airtel, tiGO) are currently connected to the African Towers platform to enhance their 2G and 3G network coverage at KIA. The solution is a hybrid DAS (active and Passive), covering both international and domestic terminals. The solution provides subscribers of the patronizing networks good voice quality and faster data rates within the KIA buildings, due to the enhanced signal level and quality.

African Towers is a “neutral host” wireless network infrastructure service provider. We provide in-building wireless coverage solutions that are designed to accommodate multiple wireless carriers and technologies on a single In Building Solution (IBS).

WHY DAS?

The distributed architecture of the DAS allows operators signals to be transmitted throughout a building, this ensures that your customers get wireless coverage inside buildings that traditionally have poor wireless coverage.
